In the beginning there was...
Monday Night Metal Mayhem
 Rev. Psycho Matthias and Syphillis
From August 1999 to March 2000, listeners of
WUEV's
"The Other Side" tuned their radios to something that was new, bizarre, and exciting. That something was Monday Night Metal Mayhem.
When former producers
Matthew "Psycho Matthias" Woodruff
and
Mike "Syphillis" Selby
banded together to form Monday Night Metal Mayhem, they really didn't know what direction it would take. Over the course of time, it has evolved into something well beyond what either of them had first expected. In the words of Syphillis, Monday Night Metal Mayhem was "a morning show that's on so early that it's on at night." Not long after the start of Monday Night Metal Mayhem, both he and Psycho Matthias began working together on putting together comedy bits for the show, many of which soon became favorites of fellow
WUEV
staff members. However, the show was not just about jokes. It featured news and information relevant to metal and other loud rock, concert information, as well as some of the heaviest music in the Tri-State. Monday (later Tuesday) Night Metal Mayhem was heard on 91.FM
WUEV
from 11pm-3am on Monday (and later Tuesday) nights. Here is what a fellow staff member said about the 'Sych' and Syph' team:
When I first met Mike and Matt, I was sitting in on their heavy metal shift at the radio station, trying to get a feel for the show I had just become a DJ for. Mike and Matt, you must understand, are the embodiment of heavy metal music. They dress almost totally in black, are known to have body piercings or crazily dyed hair, and have two of the most juvenile and appalling senses of humor ever to grace the earth. Honestly these two people scared me, but I needed to pick their brains for my newly acquired job. So I continued to sit in on their shift, despite my original impression...
The show came to an end with Syphillis' departure from
WUEV
in March 2000. At the tail end of 2000, the duo teamed up once again and began producing more material under their new name: Attention Deficit Theater.
Attention Deficit Theater's material can now be heard via the internet on Artist International Independent Radio, Indie Radio Live, and wherever else there are people crazy enough to play our material.
