Notes for Pennsylvania Wogakowski
Written and Directed by Mike Selby and Tom Benson

PA Wogakowski began as just idle talk making fun of the Indiana Jones movies (thus the state first name and the common last name). But, it evolved to more with our great Mass Comm classes at UE.

PA Wogakowski is a tough, bad-ass man in a leather jacket who has a flare for the dramatic (and is a really bad actor). His exploits take him to various wooden and secluded locations around the world to try and track down evil doers (why is it that evil doers also chose locations like that...they are really hard to get to).

I think that with the proper time given to PA Wogakowski efforts, the story line and the movie itself would become a cult classic. Selby's vision of things and off-the-wall situations would create a fun and wacky atmosphere that movie goers would love. PA Wogakowski is a character too that people would love.

PA Wogakowski Factoids:

  • Pennsylvania Wogakowski was done to take care of an incomplete that Tom and I had received in a video production class.

  • The idea for the character was originated by Gary Zekis.

  • The joke about Psycho not being able to pronounce "Wogakowski" was put in because Matt actually had difficulty saying the name.

  • In the original draft of the script, the film clip consisted of an elaborate chase sequence with Pennsylvania Wogakowski. The chase sequence was dropped because it was decided that it would be too difficult to film.

  • In the video, Psycho is wearing a "Dare to keep kids off drugs" shirt with the words "kids" and "off" blacked out.

  • The jacket that Pennsylvania Wogakowski wears is mine. I honestly can't remember who we got the sombrero from.

  • My biggest headaches in making the video occurred during the post-production process. It can all be blamed on the poorly functioning liner editor we used. When a liner editor machine is about to make an edit, both the playback and record decks roll back 5 seconds to allow them to better sync up with one another. Due to a glitch in the editor machine we were using, the decks never synced up properly and this caused it screw up on the edits quite often. This is why you occasionally see a frame of black between cuts in the video.
